In accordance with the decision of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, train passengers are obliged to meet the PCT (recovered-vaccinated-tested) requirement. The PCT requirement does not apply to children under 15, pupils and high-school students.

The use of a protective mask, hand disinfection and physical distancing remain mandatory for all passengers.

Passengers on board the train demonstrate compliance with the PCT requirement with proof of vaccination, negative test, or recovery from COVID-19.

To airports

Beside Ljubljana Airport, an increasing number of Slovenian passengers use nearby airports in Italy, Austria or even Germany. Most often they travel to foreign airports by car, even though this involves additional costs. Another option for travel to airports is train travel, especially if the train takes you directly to the airport entrance. From Slovenia, you can take a train to the airports in Trieste, Vienna, Graz, Munich and Frankfurt, which are most popular when flying to distant places. Leave your car at home, buy a train ticket and take an affordable and comfortable ride to the airport!

Trieste Airport

The fastest way to reach Trieste Airport is by taking a direct train running between Ljubljana and Udine. When headed to the airport, leave the train at Trieste Airport station. More information can be found here.

Venice Airport

If you are headed to Venice Airport, you can travel from Ljubljana to Trieste by a direct train. At Trieste railway station, transfer to a train to Venice and leave the train at Venezia Mestre station where you can take the bus (opposite the train station) to Venice airport, which is only about 8km away.

Zagreb Airport

Travel to Zagreb in a comfortable and convenient manner with direct trains running four times a day. From the main railway station Zagreb Gl. kolodvor there is only a 10-minute walk to the bus station where you can take a bus to Zagreb Airport. More information about bus connections can be found here.

Graz Airport

Travel to Graz Airport either by taking a train from Slovenia to Spielfeld-Strass train station where you take a suitable S-Bahn regional train which will take you to the airport, or travel to Graz train station where you can take a bus to the airport. In this case, we recommed purchasing a single Regio AS Graz +101 ticket allowing you to combine your travel to the airport with a bus service. More information on this is available on Graz Airport website (www.flughafen-graz).

Vienna Airport

Trains from Slovenia can take you to Vienna Main station (Wien Hauptbahnhof) from where you can reach Vienna International Airport quickly and easily. The railjet train service serves Vienna International Airport via Vienna Main station twice an hour. Further information on airport services can be found on the airport website www.viennaairport.com.

Munich Airport

You can reach Munich Airport by train from Ljubljana via Jesenice and Salzburg. Between Ljubljana and the Bavarian capital, four commuter train pairs operate each day, two of them being direct connections.

At München Hauptbahnhof passengers have to transfer to the S-Bahn city train line 1. The airport can also be reached with the S-Bahn line 8. If you take the line 8, you have to exit the train to Vienna at München Ost station, which is on the way to the main railway station. City trains run very frequently and the ride to the airport takes about 40 minutes.

More information on S-Bahn is available at www.s-bahn-muenchen.de and information on airport services at www.munich-airport.de.

Frankfurt Airport

There is a direct train connection from Ljubljana to Frankfurt and vice versa running daily. You can travel to Frankfurt for as little as €49. From Frankfurt (Main) Hbf train station, Frankfurt Airport can be reached either by local or high-speed ICE trains. Train connections to the airport can be found here.
