Due to the increasing number of new coronavirus infections introduced from abroad, Hungary is closing its borders to non-residents on 1 September.
This decision was officially announced by the Hungarian Government last week. The measure will be in force for a month. From 1 September, only Hungarian citizens will be able to enter Hungary, while foreigners will have to provide a particularly good reason for entering the country.
As regards train connections between Slovenia and Hungary, international trains 246/247 are still running between Ljubljana and Budapest, at least for now.
All passengers who plan to travel to Hungary in the coming days are advised to consult the competent authorities about the possibilities of travelling to Hungary before starting their journey.
