Line closure in Austria (until 13 July 2025)
Due to the renovation of the Tauern tunnel, the section of the Tauern line between Salzburg and Villach, on the section Schwarzach – St.Veit – Mallnitz – Obervellach, is closed until 13 July 2025. For this reason, the organization of passenger train service on the railway network of the Austrian Federal Railways has been changed.
The daily direct trains that previously ran on the route Villach Hbf – Salzburg Hbf – Munich Hbf and back have been withdrawn / cancelled. Passengers are allowed to travel on the route Villach Hbf – Salzburg Hbf – Munich Hbf and back, but the journey involves multiple intermediate transfers and rail replacement bus service.
