The purchase and extension of tickets using a SŽ or IJPP chip card is only possible by using a chip card that the user already has or has previously obtained at SŽ and/or IJPP sales outlets.
Subsidised IJPP tickets can only be purchased if the user has previously presented the relevant proof and ID at one of SŽ ticket offices.

Changes may occur in case of construction works on the lines. Please check the current timetable as well as rail replacement buses and service disruptions before each ticket purchase.
For return journeys, users purchase two single tickets (for the relevant route).
The purchase of a »Child under 6« ticket is only possible as an additional ticket to a valid paper ticket or a ticket on a chip card (SŽ and/or IJPP) for adults. During the purchase process, the user must present a valid ticket to the reader at the ticket machine.
IJPP weekend tickets can also be purchased on an SŽ chip card, where the user must additionally and correctly select the product provider (i.e. IJPP and not SŽ) during the purchase process.

Short instructions
How to purchase a paper ticket at a ticket machine
- Press the “Buy train tickets” button (on the Home screen);
- Select your travel route;
- Press the “Select a station” button to select the departure station, which can be selected by clicking on one of the pre-provided stations or by entering letters using the on-screen keyboard;
- Check the date and, if necessary, correct it using the calendar that opens when you click on the date field (if you are not travelling on the day you buy the ticket, as the date is pre-set to the day you use the ticket machine);
- Select the type and number of tickets by pressing the “Tickets” button;
- After pressing the “Continue” button, you will see several different connections for the selected route;
- Select the train type and class;
- If you wish, you can press the “No changes” button to select only those connections that do not include interchanges;
- After pressing the “Continue” button, a summary of the selected purchase will appear in a new window, where you can check the details of your selection and the final price of your purchase; if you wish, you can return to the previous steps and start the ticket selection again by pressing “Back”;
- Before continuing the purchase procedure, it is also necessary to confirm the button “I agree to the General Terms and Conditions and the Company’s Privacy Policy“;
- Once confirmed, you will be able to press the “Buy for (price) EUR” button on the screen;
- After pressing the “Buy for (price) EUR”, the application will redirect you to the payment method selection, where you will be shown the available payment methods;
- After successful payment, a new window will display “Payment successful” and a slot door will open below the screen for you to collect your ticket.

Tickets purchased at ticket machines can be paid in cash or by payment cards.

Additional information on payment and ticket purchase
If the user runs out of cash during the payment process (after having already made a partial payment with banknotes and/or coins), he/she can select the payment card option by clicking ‘Back’ and continue with the purchase, whereby only the remaining amount of the required payment will be charged up to the valid fare of the selected ticket.
Each passenger will have their own ticket printed. The ticket(s) is/are accompanied by a receipt of payment. The ticket and the payment receipt are printed simultaneously and together.
If the user needs an original receipt as proof of payment, he/she may send a written request to the following e-mail address: [email protected].
Tickets purchased at ticket machines are non-refundable (except in the case of ticket machine malfunctions).
