In accordance with the decision of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, train passengers are obliged to meet the PCT (recovered-vaccinated-tested) requirement. The PCT requirement does not apply to children under 15, pupils and high-school students.

The use of a protective mask, hand disinfection and physical distancing remain mandatory for all passengers.

Passengers on board the train demonstrate compliance with the PCT requirement with proof of vaccination, negative test, or recovery from COVID-19.

Young people under 26

Young people between 12 and 26 years of age are eligible for the following discounts:

  • 30% off all rail fares throughout Slovenia (domestic travel);
  • 50% off rail fares for trains running between Slovenia and Croatia (international travel);
  • 15% off Railplus ticket fares for international direct trains (both one-way and return journeys).

Railplus discount is applicable strictly to international journeys, and does not apply to foreign domestic tickets. Railplus tickets can be purchased at a station International Ticket Office.

Discounted tickets cannot be purchased on-board the train. This does not apply if there was no ticket office at the station or stop at which you began your journey or if the ticket office was closed.


The Youth Railcard contains information on its owner, type of annual discount, and the period of validity. The railcard is not transferable, and must be used together with a personal document.

The Youth Railcard has a validity period of one year from the month of purchase. If you reach 26 years of age during the validity period of your Youth railcard, it shall be issued for a period up to the month of your birthday. The railcard can be renewed up to 7 calendar days before it expires.
