The Slovenian Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy has renewed IJPP tickets for integrated public transport and introduced new “Slovenia” tickets as of 1 June 2023.
As a result, a new fare tariff applies from 1 June 2023, which sets the prices of IJPP tickets by distance.
The most significant change is that for each type of ticket, there is an upper or maximum fare. Once the maximum fare has been reached, depending on the route, the passenger receives a ticket that allows travel throughout the whole territory of Slovenia – the “Slovenia” ticket. For example, the maximum price for a single ticket is €13, for a daily ticket €15, for a three-day ticket €20 and for a weekly ticket €35.
The Ministry has also introduced a new three-day ticket and a 50% discount on single tickets for children.
Daily, three-day and weekly tickets
- A daily ticket up to €15 allows an unlimited number of journeys on the route for which it was issued, while a €15 ticket allows an unlimited number of journeys throughout Slovenia. It is valid for one day.
- A three-day ticket up to €20 allows an unlimited number of journeys on the route for which it was issued and a €20 ticket allows an unlimited number of journeys throughout Slovenia. It is valid for three days.
- A weekly ticket up to €35 from Monday to Sunday allows unlimited journeys on the route for which it was issued, while a €35 ticket allows unlimited journeys throughout Slovenia. It is valid for one week.
Monthly and annual tickets
Monthly and annual tickets also have a price cap, up to which the passenger can only use the route for which the ticket was issued. When the price of a monthly or annual ticket reaches the maximum fare, the passenger receives a monthly or annual ticket that can be used throughout the whole territory of Slovenia. The ticket is loaded on an IJPP electronic card or other appropriate electronic medium and allows multi-modal and multi-operator use.
Non-personal tickets
- A monthly non-personal ticket up to €90 allows an unlimited number of journeys on the route for which it was issued from the first day of the month for which it was issued until the first working day of the following month. A €90 ticket allows unlimited number of journeys throughout Slovenia.
- An annual non-personal ticket up to €720 allows an unlimited number of journeys on the route for which it was issued. A €720 ticket allows unlimited number of journeys throughout Slovenia.
Personal tickets
- A monthly personal ticket up to €70 allows an unlimited number of journeys on the route for which it was issued from the first day of the month for which it was issued until the first working day of the following month. A €70 ticket allows an unlimited number of journeys throughout Slovenia.
- An annual personal ticket up to €560 allows an unlimited number of journeys on the route for which it was issued. A €560 ticket allows an unlimited number of journeys throughout Slovenia.
New IJPP tickets for children
Under the current scheme, students are entitled to buy IJPP tickets at subsidised prices, which amount to €25 for a monthly ticket or €200 for an annual ticket. Until now, the integrated public transport ticket system did not have a corresponding product for children from the age of 4 up to high-school student status, and children could only buy monthly tickets at regular prices. According to the changes to the regulation, children up to the age of 6 can now travel free of charge. For the purpose of setting the prices of single tickets for children over the age of six and up to the age of 15, if they are not entitled to subsidised transport under the law governing road transport, a 50% discount is applied. The Ministry has thus arranged appropriate discounts for all children and young people in the integrated public transport ticket system.
