It’s always the right time to treat yourself to a trip or wander around Zagreb. Take a one-day trip by train to make the trip even more varied, and you can also visit the Zagreb ZOO.

Tour of the city center

From the train station to Zagreb’s main square – Ban Jelačič Square, it is a pleasant walk past King Tomislav Square, past the Palace of the Archaeological Museum, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Modern Gallery to Zrinjevec… see the cathedral, the largest Croatian religious building, walk through the famous Stone Gate to Gornji Grad.

You can also take a ride on the shortest cable railway in the world, which has been connecting the Lower and Upper Castles since 1890. Here are the church of St. Marko, the palace of the Croatian Parliament and Banski dvori, where the Croatian bans once lived, but today it is the seat of the government.

ZOO Zagreb

ZOO Zagreb is located in the more than 200-year-old Maksimir Park (arranged in the style of English parks), almost in the center of the city, so it is a popular place for relaxation and entertainment. In it, visitors can see many types of animals – mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish… from almost all continents. You can find more information about the ZOO at www.zgzoo.com.

From the Zagreb railway station you can get to Maksimir by tram no. 4, which goes in the direction of the east. You can see the timetables of the tram lines at: www.zet.hr.
